Record on the Road: An Evening at the New Frick

Following a complex, multi-year renovation and enhancement, The Frick Collection—originally the residence of Henry Clay Frick—reopened to the public in mid-April amid great fanfare. The transformation, undertaken by Selldorf Architects with Beyer Blinder Belle, in collaboration with the Frick’s project and curatorial teams, sensitively interweaves new spaces with the meticulously restored galleries of the historic mansion. The renovation better addresses the needs of 21st-century audiences with the addition of a reception hall, auditorium and education facilities, dedicated special exhibition galleries, a café, and an expanded shop, along with major infrastructure and accessibility improvements. For the next installment of Record on the Road, join editor in chief Josephine Minutillo for an evening with Annabelle Selldorf, principal of Selldorf Architects; Richard Southwick, director of historic preservation at Beyer Blinder Belle; and Carolyn Straub, associate director for capital projects at the Frick. Following the conversation, guests may visit the refurbished and new galleries on the museum’s first and second floors.
